Yoga is an excellent way to boost fitness levels, improve health, and balance your hormones. There are certain poses that are better than others for the hormonal balancing. You’ll want to focus on these four poses to get your body back in balance to improve the rest of your health.
Start with the Reclining Goddess
One of the easiest poses you will ever do in yoga is called the reclining Goddess. This pose just requires you to lay on your back and allow your muscles to relax. Give your mind a chance to focus on each muscle as you allow gravity to take control.
Fold a blanket or towel up to rest under your back, shoulders, and head. This blanket should support your whole back and shoulders, allowing the natural arch in the back to stretch.
Roll up another blanket or towel and place behind your knees. Just let your arms drop out to your sides.
You’ll create space to breathe with this pose by opening your chest. Focus on the breathing after allowing your muscles to relax and your brain will start to do the hard work for you to balance the hormones.
Roll into the Cobra Pose
Roll onto your front, getting rid of the blankets. Push yourself up on your arms, keeping your legs and hips on the floor. The focus is on stretching the stomach muscles, while feeling your back contract to make your arch deeper.
Tilt your head backwards to keep the stretch going all the way to the top of your head. Just close your eyes and focus on your breathing.
This pose can be held for a few minutes. If you feel pain in your back, lower your body a little closer to the ground. You don’t want to overdo the stretch and cause injury.
Lay on Your Stomach for the Surfboard Pose
Get the blankets back and place the folded ones under your chest. The rolled up one needs to be at the bottom of your yoga mat to support your ankles.
You just want to lay on your stomach with your spine and neck straight. Think of it like laying on a massage table waiting for that relaxing and sensual massage. The difference is that you can pull your arms up to your head to rest the head on them.
Close your eyes and let your body sink into the floor. Concentrate on your breathing, as you feel each of the muscles in your body relax. Hold the position for 10 minutes as you connect with your body.
Sit Up into the Cross Legged Pose
Finally, the cross legged pose, also known as sukhasana, is one to do. You just need to sit up with your back straight and your shoulders pulled back. Cross your legs, preferably one over the other, and relax your arms onto your legs. Turn the hands up and touch the middle finger to your thumb. It’s a very commonly considered pose for meditation.
Breathe deeply, holding this position for a couple of minutes. Focus on opening your chest and allowing the oxygen to travel around your body. You’ll find that your brain is able to release the right chemicals again to balance out all your hormones.
Yoga is a powerful way to balance your hormones and improve every aspect of your life. Use it when you’re stressed, tired, or just need to relax. Balancing your hormones will soon boost the rest of your health. Don’t forget to hold the positions long enough to allow all your muscles to relax, while focusing on your breathing to get all the benefits.
